Gustav Mahler's Tiny Composing Huts

 

Mahler 's composing hut in Maiernigg, in the Austrian state of Carinthia.

 

Mahler's cabin near Steinbach am Attersee in Upper Austria. Mahler's 2nd and 3rd symphonies were composed here.

 

Mahler's "Komponierhäuschen" in Toblach, Italy. This is where Mahler's 9th and 10th Symphonies were composed. As far as I can tell, Toblach used to be in Austria. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. 

There's a nice bit at The Tiny House Blog about three small outbuildings that Gustav Mahler used for writing music.

There's a YouTube video about the "Komponierhäuschen" in Toblach that shows how the building has, sadly, fallen into disrepair.

I think it's interesting that they're all essentially the same house.
